General Discussion / Re: An odd ABS problem
« Last post by RHahn57 on February 06, 2025, 02:44:47 PM »
A follow up on this...  Well I did 4 "GS Bleed Cycles" noting that the idiot light came on about 500 miles before we got back home. I fear either the ABS ECU or pump have died. Odd though that I had brakes the rest of the way home and did not get locked out of the front ones until I did a flush. Oh well, I'll tear down to those components tomorrow and see what's what. The "implausible P1" is my primary clue...

Fault Code Value 0x480A05
Fault Code Description Pressure sensor, control circuit, front, implausible P1
Currently present YES
Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) YES
Frequency count 1

Hi Wilco,

Appreciate the reply, makes sense and I guess it's on me for not researching properly, however it's the reason I bought it :(

Cheers anyway

Hi Rob and Claus,

No update from the GS-911 side can enable these screens if the functionality is not loaded onto the instrument cluster firmware by BMW. I suspect with certain bikes they only loaded defaults to save on memory or just to generally optimise their already very slow firmware update procedure, but this is purely conjecture.

GS-911 / Re: 2020+ S1000XR ECE vs SAE Tail Lights

Poked around this morning in the new firmware and didn't see anything obvious.  the most relevant coding menu I see is this:

additionally, the bike-level coding menu has these options:

when I descend into "LED Indicators" I get a notice saying that the bike does *not* have that option coded.  Which is odd, because it's an SAE spec 2024 S1000XR -- we have LED indicators here.

GS-911 / 2020+ S1000XR ECE vs SAE Tail Lights
« Last post by asellus on February 03, 2025, 05:20:32 PM »
The SAE rear indicators are red-only and either all on or all off.

The ECE rear indicators have a separate set of amber and red lights.

I've been told, unhelpfully, that "it requires coding" to switch from the SAE to the ECE indicators.  I was able to dig up someone struggling with this swap, they were having both amber and red illuminate as one unit without any coding work done.

Does the GS911 support changing from SAE to ECE?  I'd assume it's on the body control module somewhere?

Regret I did not follow up here. 911 reported a blown cam position sensor which threw it in limp node. Swapped it out and back on the road!
