How do I... / Re: Virus

Sent a false positive request to McAfee this morning, just got to wait to hear from them.
Heard back from Hex support, from the information they supplied and with some extra virus checking, Virus Total supplied by Ruan at Hex, I am almost positive it was a bum steer.
I took the plunge and created an exception in McAfee, scanned the hard drive and then successfully started the 911 program.
All is now working well and just waiting to hear from McAfee, I will update when I do.

General Discussion / Re: Registering a new set of wheels GSA LC

I have been able to set the TPMS to "learn" and then disconnect.  Upon riding the next day, the sensor began to register fine.
I did it this way because I forget to write down the new TPMS tag number prior to mounting a set of tires on my new Woody's wheels......DUH!

Yes, an update to the AV has given a false positive & you need to contact/submit the report to McAfee

Seen it before with other AV & they correct their software by doing a further update, AV Co's respond better to end users than developers like Hexcode

Hi Wayne
Thanks for the reply, my anti virus is McAfee Live Safe.
I have been using the 911 on this computer with the same AV since May this year and the problem only become apparent yesterday.
Does this make sense with your suggestion?
Cheers

Paul, with all anti virus software there can be false positives & it would not surprise me if that was your problem, it has happened to the GS911 PC app in the past & was resolved by contacting the AV company to have them correct the AV software

What Anti Virus software do you have ?

I recently had a virus on my pc laptop attached to the GS911.exe file.
Deleted the program, removed the virus using my virus checker.
Installed the program again and same happened again.
Uninstalled again and sent a message to the support desk, sent this evening.
So now waiting to see what the solution is.
Has anybody else had this problem and if so what is the solution.
Thanks in advance
Paul

General Discussion / Re: Turn off Tyre Monitors
« Last post by Dr Rich on October 07, 2019, 03:48:57 PM »
Yes I agree they are an excellent feature, however, unfortunately when the batteries are expired you receive a warning light constantly. This doesn’t provide any early warning of low tyre pressure and simply  is an irritation or a distraction.

The ability to temporarily disable then would be a useful feature, once new tires and new sensors have been fitted the feature could then be switched back on.

I wouldnt even think about turning off my tpms!.
Just last week, I was out  riding, when suddenly the red triangle started flashing at me and my tpm readout showed my rear tyre pressure reduced to 36psi, and dropping. I stopped and saw that there was a nail in the tyre. The tyre was deflating at a slow enough rate that gave me enough time to reach the nearest garage where I replenished the pressure, which then gave me the ability to get home.
If not for tpm, the only time I would have realised that I had a punctured tyre would have been when it was nearly flat, leaving me stranded by the road and having to be recovered.
