Engine not as smooth as it used to be
« on: August 11, 2019, 03:21:06 AM »
The bike is 2014 R1200RTW owned it from new, done all my own servicing and its now covered 72,000 miles.  Just got back from an 8,000 mile round trip to Alaska.
I am noticing that the engine "hunts" a bit these days, for example if you try and set the RPM to 2,000 the engine will hunt up and down, its impossible to set the throttle to get exactly 2,000 rpm.  Its not really noticeable on the road although if you set the cruise to say 30mph you get the same feeling.  I wondered about the crappy fuel in BC and Alaska, often only 97 was available so I have put some Chevron Techtron in the tank, but I am not hopeful this will make any difference.  Plugs have done 8,000 miles and the valve clearances were spot on just before the Alaska run.  Any thoughts on what to look at?
What should I look for on the GS-911??

Try to reset the adaptations.  Also check your cam timing.  The left side cams like moving.
