I have a 2015 R1200RTW & both of my heated grips stopped working at the same time.
The fault code from my GS911 was 0x8008A Left Grip open circuit & 0x8008C Right Grip open circuit.
Is there a bad relay & how can I fix this to get my grips working again?

schuppi

Sorry,
check this faultcodes. That are not BMW Motorrad codes.
Posting your full scan will help, or you search on this site >>https://bmwfault.codes/

schuppi,
You are correct, as the code previously mentioned was a fault code value, whatever that means. See attached pic from my scan.
I'm new to using the GS911 & there were no faults in any other sections of the scan except in the Body Controller - XBCO - which had these 2 faults.
Is the website you sent for BMW Motorrad? Looks like it looking for car codes!?

schuppi

Hello
This website is usable for cars and motorcycles.
Different controllers are listed, use  XBCO for your bike.

Heated grips > open circuit =  I think both grips are defective.
Removing the grips and measure the resistance will show you the cause for faultcodes

FWIW, this is what I have experienced.

If there is an issue with your battery, or low voltage, the heated grips will switch off and at time report an error.

I note that the errors reflect as "Currently Present - NO"

I would suggest clearing the errors, and turning the grips back on after ensuring that the battery is in good condition.  You may find that the grips will be working again.
