Windows 10
« on: July 31, 2015, 07:11:41 AM »
Installed Windows 10 yesterday and received my GS-911 Wifi today. I was able to use the GS-911wifi Utilities however, the Downloader does not find the GS911. If I look in Device Manager the GS-911 does not appear.

I was able to set up the GS-911 with my android phone and read the codes on my S1000RR, so I know the GS-911 works. Just wish I could turn off the CEL after removing my exhaust servo.

With Windows 10 being so new I would suggest you log a support ticket with Hexcode, it is going to be a learning curve for everyone with Win10

I used my wife's laptop yesterday (Win8) and it worked fine. Then upgraded it to Win10 and still worked fine, so I think it was just an issue with my computer.

And no, the GS-911 is not able to disable to exhaust servo. Had to reinstall it to get rid of the CEL :(

Regarding the Check Engine Light (CEL) : it will always come back as long as any fault codes are present that require it to be ON... and Clearing the Fault Code, does not fix the problem as the Engine controller still sees the exhaust servo is missing... and hence the Fault code just returns immediately (and hence the CEL stays ON)

Sorry, forgot to reply to the Win10 issue...

Win10 is still very new... and I'm sure Microsoft has left us with a lot of work again... ;-( I'm sure the occasional "funnies" will raise their heads..

I guess I was hoping to be able to disable the servo or somehow "remove" it in the ECU.

" I was hoping to be able to disable the servo or somehow "remove" it in the ECU."

Hello.
No, I don't think so. That's a part of the vehicle license and no diagnostic software will be able to eliminate
those functions.
Maybe a tuner, who can change  programming of the software is able to do this.

On the 650GS US riders are using a resistor of between 100 and 200 ohms to "fool" the BMSC into thinking a tank Vent Valve is in place
Re programming to ECE firmware would probably be a better idea for them though

Hello Wayne
That's right. But that is only a solenoid valve without any response to the BMSC.

The exhaust servo is operated by a PWM signal from ECU with equivalent response about the position of the flap. :)

I upgraded the GS-911 firmware and software on my Win 10 tablet today with no issues
