R1100rs connection
« on: August 27, 2013, 11:23:58 PM »
This is a repeat as I think I placed it in the wrong place.
I have a GS 911 which I purchased for my 2007 R1200GS. I also run a 1995 R1100RS mainly in winter. I purchased the three pin adapter so that I could read codes on the R1100RS. When I received the adapter 18 months ago I immediately tried it out and all went well. This week I had an engine failure on the way to work. I recovered the the bike in a trailer! At home I connected the three pin adaptor and the GS 911 to the R1100RS and I keep getting a" fail to establish receive link ACK". Yes the switch on the adapter was at "O", ignition was on, and the three pin connector was connected. Does any one have any ideas?

Make sure the bike is on the center stand with the side stand retracted.

Your Kill Switch must also be in the "Run" position.

To update. Thank you Jughead. It was your reply that stimulated my thoughts and the fact the bike started after its trail home. In addition the GS 911 communicated fine with the bike. Yes my side stand was up, but this made me think and I reckon the problem lies with water ingress into the side stand switch. It was raining hard on my way to work that day. I have replaced the side stand switch. Yet to meet heavy rain but that will change soon!
