10491: Electronic Immobiliser malfunction
« on: September 02, 2014, 02:08:05 PM »
Hi Guys. My F800GS has an issue. When I switched on the ignition switch yesterday the bike made a few werd noises from the various on board servos and then the ignition lights went dead. I removed the battery, it tested faulty. Put in a new unit. Ignition comes on  bit the starter button will not swing the motor. Get an error EWS on the dash and a “10491: Electronic Immobiliser malfunction” error with the GS911 test tool. The error wont clear. Tried the spare key. Can’t clear fault, any ideas?

Perhaps the battery "outing" fried your ring antenna?

Replaced both pats, it's up and running again. Thought the designers of the electronics would build protection in against these things happening.
