0x3A1DE0 error code after replacing OEM headers
« on: March 02, 2025, 05:05:40 AM »
Hi All
I've replace my 2024 S1000XR OEM headers with an Akrapovic, and now have a full system on the bike. I had no error codes come up initially, but after a few rides an Engine Control error (XBMS01) came up. If I check the engine controller error details if shows 0x3A1DE0 & 0x3A1EF0 with descriptions "Catalyst, Bank 1 & 2, conversion, efficiency below threshold". I can reset these errors with the 911, but eventually they reappear after a few stop/starts.
I assume it's because the catalytic converter is now removed and the Lambda sensors are picking this up. In the "live data" there are Lambda control factors set to 1, so not sure if these values needs to be changed or adjusted. Any advice will be appreciated.

Hi,

I had the similar problem on my 2024 S1000XR when I changed to an Arrow Headers. Still finding for an answer to this problem.

I'll be taking it for an ECU remap and dyno shortly, was told this will fix it. Will keep you posted on the outcome

Apologies for the late update all, and Katyperry you are spot-on.

Problem with the engine warning light was resolved it seems. Had the ECU remapped with a dyno. The 2 post cat O2 sensors were the problem causing the engine alarm to come on after exceeding its trigger limits multiple times.

Took it for a 360km ride with multiple stop/starts and no engine alarm came on. Checked the faults after this ride with with the GS911 and no alarms present. Happy days and 168HP on the dyno later, up from 163HP

Can you feel the difference in performance after remapping the ECU and increasing it to 168HP?

Most noticeable changes are the high idle on startup is gone, and it feels much smoother on takeoff and around 3.5 - 5k RPM. The most gain on both HP and Torque was above 7k RPM.

Swap any misconnected sensors based on live data results. Ensure pre-cat and post-cat sensors are in their correct positions.

Make sure your Lambda sensors are still installed properly, even post-cat. Many full systems retain O2 ports to keep the ECU happy until a tune is installed. If you leave them disconnected without the ECU knowing, you may trigger other errors or limp mode.
Relax with Geometry Dash!

Thanks for the advice guys. All Lambda sensors are still connected as original pre and lost cat. Only change made was in the ECU settings with new map. She runs great and with no alarms, or additional fault codes activated  ;D

Have you considered remapping the ECU or using a Lambda emulator (O2 sensor eliminator)? I had the same problem and would love to know how you went about it!
