Calibration Error - Why?
« on: November 20, 2024, 08:49:35 PM »
This may be a dumb question, but here goes. 2008 R1200RT.  I am attempting to calibrate a new (improved!) fuel level strip, but after a couple of minutes it fails with a "Error with Calibration" message.  This is not really helpful.  I have triple-checked the setup and procedures, resistance of the strip checks out, no fault codes or other indications of a problem.

It would help to have a bit more detail on why the software threw its hands up.  I've looked at the logging options, but can't find any clear information about logging such errors.  BTW, I downloaded two debug logs, which look like they contain a lot of information, but the files are unreadable.

I'm not (yet) looking for assistance in fixing this problem, but just hoping to get more information out of this otherwise excellent diagnostic tool.  Maybe I'm just missing something obvious, but any suggestions welcome.

Thanks

Hi, I am ex bmw tech were i used to work went into administration but seen your post and weirdly the bmw diagnostics would fail calibration on the new fuel file strips and we asked bmw technical and they said yeah normal try up to 30 to 40 times and see what happens, after that try another file strip so maybe you need to try a few more times, but also a massive thing is making sure the voltage is correct you could almost do with it being at running voltage around 14volts this was also a factor we had to do at the bmw dealership
Not sure how much of that will be helpful
Thanks
