New member looking for advice
« on: August 10, 2023, 06:45:02 PM »
Hello guys,

I'm a new member from Madeira Island and I own an F700GS.
As you may guess, there is no BMW Motorrad dealership.

I have two issues and I'm thinking of purchasing an GS911 to help me fix them:
1 - I had a low battery, I tried to force the ignition by pushing the bike, it turned on, but the second time it didn't...
I tried some times until I got EWS error. can GS911 help me here?
2 - In 2019 I had an accident and had to replace the instrument cluster, from then on the kms are wrong and they flash. Can GS911 help me define the correct kms?

If GS911 is good for me, which version should I buy?

Best regards,
Miguel Nóbrega

Hi Miguel

Welcome to the forum! For your queries:
1. We've got a write up on EWS, it's usually quite a process to get this sorted:
https://www.hexgs911.com/tech-info/ews/
2. Currently we cannot code new ECUs to bikes except the RDCDWA modules. We are working on other ECUs as well, but this is still in the R&D phase of development.

The GS-911 will allow you to clear the EWS fault once the fault conditions have been rectified, which will make life quite easier.

If you're only looking to work on your own bike, you can purchase the GS-911 WiFi enthusiast or the USB enthusiast, note however that the USB only device cannot be upgraded to professional. Once your 10 VINs are used, you cannot add any other VINs. You can use our VIN decoder below to check which products are compatible with your bike:

Kind regards
Ruan

Thank you for your reply Ruan.

Actually, I borrowed a GS-911 to diagnose and I got the following error:

So I removed and opened the ring antenna, to find a burnt chip:

So I bought that chip, replaced it and tried it again... Immediately it burned again in the same place.
Now I'm afraid of buying a new Ring antenna module, it may burn again in the same place...

Now I want to inspect the PCB and maybe the cables.
