What happens when BMW "Wonder Wheel" is disabled?

Ok, yes I am aware of that mount. I didn’t go this route because there are a lot of reported connectivity issues with this mount for those of us with GS’s who more typically see rougher riding conditions. Several friends went on to utilize the XT mount on the BMW Nav bar. This is what I’m doing as well.

So since I am losing the functionality of the wonderwheel (used to change my auxiliary light brightness) I was asking if there was another method to adjust it besides attaching a laptop.
