K1200S/RS brake question
« on: April 06, 2020, 10:31:12 AM »
Hi there,

Has anyone tried performing an ABS bleed test on a K1200S or an RS?

Any issues encountered during the test? Did both front and rear brakes go green?

We have a R1150 with non-CAN Integral ABS brakes at our workplace however we cannot reach it due to the lock-down.

Regards,
Mornay

Hello Mornay

Sorry, but there is no K1200S or an RS in this moment available :-\
For the next weeks, if our shut down is gone, I will look what I can find for you.

I have a 2003 k1200 gt, I could never get either front or rear to turn green until I replaced the original brake hoses, now both front and rear go green, still feels like I am going to break the lever/ pedal but they do turn green.

Schuppi, Alex, thank you for the feedback.

Alex, do you remember if your ABS pump activated when applying pressure in order to get the bar to the green, or was the pressure only applied from the handlebar lever and foot lever?

Mornay, Not 100% sure but I think it did activate the pump. I always assumed the issue prior to replacing the brake lines was the expansion of the rubber hoses effectively “reducing” the pressure in the lines. When it failed to turn green it would get the line all the way to the end but would not hold it long enough to turn green.
The test is looking for an inadequately bled system so it would not make sense to not activate the pump. ( I think)!
