Heated grip signalising a false fault
Guilherme:
Hi,
I have a R120GS year 2009. I started using the GS-911 a month ago, .
I have used the Autoscan device three times and the code showed below is still reported, even though I have deleted all fault codes each time.
41787 Left heated grip malfunction, open circuit
The fault is not present now.
The left heated grip is working perfectly, in both temperature steps, I tested it several times. If the circuit is open, as reported in the fault code, how can it works to heat the grip?
WayneC:
Welcome to the forum, an intermittent connection in the wiring could generate a fault so the first thing to check would be plug/socket connections
Guilherme:
Tks, I will do it.
Guilherme:
Reseted the fault warnings, during this time I did not use the heater grip and when I run the Autoscan the fault warning reappeared. If the heating circuit has not been activated, how could a fault have been detected?
Curious.... could be a Poltersgeist???? :(
WayneC:
It depends on the type of IC's used plus firmware of an ECU as to whether the state of a circuit is monitored when you are not using a device hence it is not out of the ordinary for a fault code to come up even though you have not turned on the heated grips.
