Adaption after replacing TPS

Hello! I just replaced the Throttle Position Sensor on my 08 GS1200. Now I'm going to do the adaptation. It is not clear to me if the bike should be running while I do this or just have the ignition key switched on. Or does the bike just need to be at operating temperature?

You will not be able to reset the adaptations with the bike running.  If you do try, it will tell you that the engine should not be running.
