1997 K1200RS diags socket backwards.

On my bike the GS-911 status leds are facing inwards towards the frame where I cannot see them. Not that they are really necessary.

Does anybody else with an early K12 find this, or is my diags socket reversed in its frame socket?

I am thinking of re-locating the socket to avoid removing the side plastic. Has anybody found a better location? I don't mind doing solder splice and sleeve extensions to their socket wiring.
