GS-911 won't talk back to the computer
« on: October 06, 2016, 06:18:54 AM »
To the worldly and knowledgeable,
I've only had my GS-911 for a few months and used it only a couple times on my Windows laptop. In all usage sessions, connection has been very unreliable even though the WiFi router is only two metres away from the GS-911 and the laptop. I have also tried using it on my Home PC with no better results.

TODAY I CANNOT GET THE GS-911 FUNCTIONING.

I can get a response "beep" and the WiFi test shows okay.
When plugged into the bike I press "identify (beep) device" it beeps and then I get the message "Failed to send identity command".
Also, when I try to select a bike from the list, a message "Please connect a GS-911 interface to use the diagnostic function" appears.

I have reset the Wifi settings several times for the unit and repeated all the standard setup procedures with no improvement.

I hope someone can direct me to a solution to solve this.

If you have a windows laptop, have you tried direct connection via the USB cable. At least then you could rule out  the WiFi.

mike d,
I've tried direct connection with the USB and there is still no response. All indications show that it is connected but the response from the GS-911 program is "Please connect a GS-911 interface to use the diagnostic function".

What happens when you go to Tools, Setup, select USB and then push the Test interface-button?

I think I might have already tried this. I became so frustrated yesterday that I lost my normal composure and methodical approach. My bike is out of action until tomorrow but I will check out your suggestion as soon as I can.
Thank you for your input.

Some help from Wayne C allowed me to sort out some IP address conflicts and the issue is now resolved. ;D
