Hi,

I am trying to do ESA calibration after rear Showa shock (GS1200 2008) replacement with WP(GS1200 2011).
The error seen by GS911 is 41768 - Rear ESA sensor malfunction.
My existent Showa ESA has hall sensor - same as the WP one. According to BMW the parts are completely compatible.
The WP is SH - 9k km but seller is trust-able and he said that it was tested before shipping and it worked fine.
While I have tried to do the calibration so many times I had the bellow behavior:
Once or twice it happens - when pressing the "calibrate rear or front ESA" the WP ESA is doing a full travel from minimum to max and recognize all the position - over 2000. But when i am trying to change the settings of the ESA from the bike - when i am pressing long the ESA button - no change on the dashboard like other settings are unavailable.
I cant reproduce this again even if tried SO many times.

Most of the times now - when pressing calibrate FRONT suspension – operation is performed in the front ESA (I can see and hear ESA noise) but an error message is thrown: "Error in FRONT esa sensor." - this message makes me to think that maybe there is a bug in GS911 software. When I am pressing Calibrate REAR suspension - there is no action performed but a wrong error message is shown "Error in FRONT esa sensor".
Couple of times it happens that another error message was shown - something like minimum position cant be reached.
I have opened a ticket with GS911 team but the message was to try with a BMW dealer.
Attached are some documentation with details -  picture and GS911 report with Showa and with ESA fitted.

Now I need your help and experience - Did any of you faced this behavior?
Are there some suggestions to try before to visit a BMW dealer?

Thank you,
Paul

OK, thanks Paul, nice new WiFi unit, when attempting the calibration were you using the WiFi interface and Cloud Services or were you using the PC application ?. There could be a difference in the result between the two

I would expect however that it would be appropriate to lodge a support ticket with Hexcode, I cant recall seeing anyone attempt calibration with a WP unit

Hi Wayne,
I have tried both ways (over wifi connection and over USB cable) but same result.
I have tried also using GS Adventure model from GS911 interface but again same result.
Indeed a ticket was logged with GS911 team but somehow the first attempt was to direct me to BMW dealer.
I am waiting for their final resolution and after will find a dealer in my area.

Thank you for your help,
paul

OK, understood re the same result from both interfaces, it sounds like the WP will need to be programmed/registered into the machine using the Dealer Diags system before any calibration can be done.

Whether the later model unit can be programmed into the machine by the Dealer or whether they are prepared to do it will be the interesting part.
