F650GS Autoscan
Paul Hoffmann:
Hi
Just connected the GS911 up to the F650GS for the first time.
I performed an autoscan and my question is about an entry under Motorcycle information where it says the VIN is invalid and mileage not available.
I looked at the BMS -C 11 and the ABS sections and there are no fault codes and to my untrained eye it seems to be showing everything I expected from reading the function chart on the web site about this bike.
It is a 2006 twin spark and I made sure I selected the correct model.
I recently bought the bike from a BMW dealer in Portugal and looking at the documentation that came with the bike the only strange thing I can see is the VIN on the documentation says the middle letters are ZR while the autoscan report is YR
I hope someone can shed some light on this and I apologise in advance if I have had a serious senior moment!!
I have copied the autoscan report and its below.
Cheers
Paul

The VIN has been entered in error (it is actually a 2011 F800 VIN now) and it can be corrected when a firmware update is done, the firmware in the BMSCII is 180E which is quite old (2004) and so it would be worth updating it to 210E which was released in 2008
I would have expected firmware version 190E or even 200E to have been in a 2006 model, perhaps the BMSCII was replaced at some point
Paul Hoffmann:
Thanks Wayne for a swift answer.
Do you mean a firmware update on the bike as the 911 is up to date?
Paul
WayneC:
Yes, update of the firmware in the BMSCII Engine Management ECU of the bike, there are quite a few fixes in the later versions
With the GS911 Yellow, you only need to update the PC software version which will tell you when a new version is available if the PC is internet connected when you open the GS911 application
Paul Hoffmann:
Cheers Wayne
