Just a nightly/very early morning wave & hello from the Netherlands!

I bought the Professional version of the GS-911, so I can help my motor buddies diagnosing their bikes, if needed.
I do not run a shop or anything like that, I just don't like "limitations", hence the Professional version.

I also have the Hella/Gutmann Bike Macs 33 but that system start to show its age.
Since I have the GS911 I never have touched the Gutmann any more.

Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens.

from what I've read, the Gutemann MACs is no longer supported...

I'm not surprised, if I may be honest;
Was very expensive kit, and no means of updating as far as I'm aware.
More of an auto-shop solution then a motorcycle-servicing in mind, in my opinion.

Anybody interested in a Gutemann?  ;)

The other week I had to help out a motor-buddy with his recently purchased good-as-new 2nd hand 1200GS;
Prior to the purchase the seller used a high pressure washer to clean-up the bike.  :o
Since then odd behaviours and eventually the bike refused to start. Ever.  :'(
Turned out the gear-indicator was completely blank.
Drove down to the new owner with the GS911, and ran the adaptation and put in 1st then back in neutral.
Bike has started fine ever since.
Of course, followed the clear instructions of the GS911 software how to relearn the gear-indicator.

Yet another job well done via the GS911.
The other option was towing it to a motorcycle shop.

Tip of the day:
Never ever clean-up your bike with a high pressure washer, it may be devastating for the electronics, blow out an oil-seal, and even cause (white) sludge in your oil, eventually.
Just use a sponge and mild soap, you can also inspect parts of the motorcycle whilst you wash it. (rust, leaks, damage, debris etc).

off topic:
I recently contacted Gutemann to find out the possibilities of getting it updated, perhaps serviced.
Turns out they have been taken over by Hella but not this part of the company.
As a customer you are left floating with a rather expensive piece of kit with virtually no further future. Or support, apparently.
Yet, this kit is still being sold in Germany.  ???

For the price and what it does, I should have had the insight a wee bit earlier, forget about it and already gone for the Hexcode GS911, back then in 2009. (big grin).

Ah well, another lesson learned.

And perhaps some day somebody else considering the Gutemann will find this thread via G00gle and reconsider, perhaps.  ;D

I'm not getting any responses to my emails to HexCode & one other member, so I will cut down my visits to this forum.
I also won't report any further on my projects, what is the use?

I believed Hexcode to be different, I guess I was wrong.
