Central Vehicle Electronics/ZFE/GM issues / K1200S battery going flat after a few days
« Last post by loadedtoad on September 26, 2025, 04:56:33 PM »
Hi Guys I've a problem with the bike battery going flat after a few days.
With a clamp meter attached it is always drawing 78 Miliamps.
I've removed the vehicle control module and the current drops to 5 millamp which is quite acceptable.
i can then start the bike up engine runs Ok then switch it off ,current is about 30 millamps then drops to 5 milliamps as the ECU drops into sleep mode.
Reconnect the module still only 5 milliamps.
Start bike up then switch off current stays at 78 millamps.
It would seem the control module is not dropping into sleep mode or could something be stopping it going into sleep mode ?.
No fault lights bike starts and runs fine.
No accessories complete standard bike.
Disconnect the battery bike can be left for over a month.
Not used my GS-911 for anything other than basic service work.
Is there any diagnostics on the GS-911 to watch the Can bus for activity etc to see if something is waking it up ?.
Or has anyone else had or heard of this fault ?.
Also is the vehicle control module paired to the ECU and key so i can just swap it for another unit to test .

Thanks in Advace

GS-911 / Re: Messed Up TPM Replacement, Can It Be Saved?
« Last post by ElPolloDiablo on September 25, 2025, 11:54:43 AM »
Thanks. I tried both wake up methods (riding and fast deflation) and neither worked. I suspect a defective sensor but I am waiting to hear from BMW about that.
Old sensor is installed in the meantime. It works but is seriously out of calibration (about 0,2 bar) but better than nothing.

One detail I omitted is I have been having problems connecting to the GS911 cloud since Monday, I always get an error message so I am really limited in what I can do now. I suspect our "Piracy Shield" is causing problems again.

you will need a way to wake up the sensor, wake up tool is very inexpensive. if not you can try, ride bike, needs to be over 20 mph, this should wake up sensor  and as quickly as you can use GS911 and select front or rear for the new sensor and learn selection. should work.

GS-911 / Bleed function available for K1200s with integral brakes?
« Last post by dballari@gmail.com on September 24, 2025, 07:51:27 PM »
I went into service function menu on the gs911 to initiate the abs bleed cycle/service - I could not find that service listed on the k1200s - is it now available?

GS-911 / Messed Up TPM Replacement, Can It Be Saved?
« Last post by ElPolloDiablo on September 24, 2025, 01:37:06 PM »
I installed a new TPM bought from BMW in the front wheel of my R1200RT LC. These are new "sealed" Schrader units.

Being the idiot that I am I decided the "PN:" followed by seven digits stamped on the sensor was the new sensor identification number so I input that to learn the sensor manually. Turns out it isn't since there's no feedback coming from the front sensor, but no error either. And that's about it, I have no idea what to do now. No, I don't own a "wake up tool" nor have I any intention to buy one to use it once in 8-9 years.

If anyone can help I'll be grateful, otherwise I will just try to replace the battery in the old one and take the loss on this sensor.

Thanks

how old is the windows machine, Win 10 or is it much older? if older than win 10 I'd find another way to get a Windows license, otherwise you can take that License and set it up like a grown up on the Apple device (and end up with a real computer and an apple mac book)

You can run Windows applications on a MacBook using Apple's Boot Camp to install Windows
Or by using virtualization software like Parallels or PlayOnMac.

Either method allows you to access Windows programs, but Boot Camp requires rebooting (in to Windows), while virtualization lets you run them alongside macOS.

Apple Methods to Run Windows Apps on MacBook Boot Camp

Compatibility: Works on Intel-based Macs (aka any recent one).
Installation: Use Boot Camp Assistant to create a Windows partition.
Usage: Requires rebooting to switch between macOS and Windows.
    Windows License: Required.

Virtual Machines

    Options: Parallels Desktop, VMware Fusion.
Compatibility: Can run on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs (with limitations).
Installation: Install Windows within a virtual environment.
User Experience: Allows running Windows apps alongside macOS apps without rebooting.
    Windows License: Required.

PlayOnMac

Compatibility: Free software for running many Windows applications.
    User Friendliness: Simple to use.
    Windows License: Not needed.

General Discussion / Re: Dwa
« Last post by botus on September 19, 2025, 05:10:41 PM »
not surprised they made it harder to fit on later bikes...   as more toys go on vehicles and they design them to die ever faster, the more spares become available to upgrade poverty spec models - so the manu find new ways to stop us doing it

the DWA module on the later bikes is different from the earlier simple bikes... its great this retrofit functionality exists - I had DWA coding done on an early bike at a dealership - but they no longer knew how to pair the alarm fobs....

ezCAN / Re: Hexcan drain battery??
« Last post by WernerM on September 17, 2025, 10:52:25 AM »
Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out.

Does the ezCAN go into sleep mode a few seconds after the ignition is turned off? If the Green LED on the ezCAN turns off, this tells us the ezCAN has gone to sleep. In the sleep state, the ezCAN power draw would be inconsequential.

Were you able to test for any more draw with the bike turned off?

Lastly, how is the bike stored? Litium batteries can misbehave (oversimplification, I know) or fail prematurely if exposed to sub 0°C (32°F). It's recommended to keep these batteries between 0-25°C when in use and charging.

Kind regards,
Werner.
