Hi all. Have been living with this problem for a long time! Several years back I changed the gearing on my F800 gsa dropping one tooth on the coutershaft sprocket from 16 to 15. This makes the bike more rideable off road, and still ok on the road. Ever since doing this the gear indicator goues out when running in 6th gear for a short while. Fault fode on the scan tool is 4482(0x1182). Description is Gear selector sensor, implausable signal or value. Basically, I believe the ECU expects a certain engine rpm and a particular wheel speed that has now changed due to the gearing change.
Does anyone know if it is possible to use the gs911 tool to tell/teach the ecu the new values with the reduced gearing are ok?
I have lived with this problem for years, but during a recent x-country trip it became a problem when my clutch switch got dirty. Since the ecu did not know the gear, it did not recognize neutral, and would not start. Inhad to reset all codes to allow the engine to start while out in the middle of nowhere.
Any suggestions appreciated!
