Esa calibration

Hi
   I was trying to do a esa calibration on the front shock but the readout is showing zero ? where as the rear has two values in the readout ? Thanks.

It depends entirely on which bike you are referring to.  Bikes like the GS or GSA have ESA front and rear, whereas the RT only has it on the rear.

Hi The bike is a 2010 1200rt se with esa back and front.

The 2010 R1200RTs have dampening front & back (Normal, Sport ,Comfort),but ESA (1 helmet, 1helmet & Luggage, 2 helmets ) on the rear strut only
You can only calibrate the rear strut. Only the GS & GSA have ESA front & back (I'm not even sure the GS has both)

Hi The bike is a 2010 1200rt se with esa back and front.

Whilst your bike has ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) only part of it, the preload, can be calibrated.  If you have a close look at your front suspension, you will see no preload mechanism on that shock, as you do on the rear.

What you are in fact calibrating on the rear is the upper and lower limits of the preload.  You will notice when changing suspension modes between Soft, Normal and Hard, nothing significant really happens visually.

If, however, you change the preload mode (1 Helmet, 1 Helmet & Luggage, 2 Helmets) you will notice that while the rear shock makes a whirring noise and 'jacks itself up', the front does nothing.  What you have in fact done is adjusted the suspension for greater load in the rear, so the 1 Helmet, 1 Helmet & Luggage, 2 Helmets only changes the rear of the bike.
