ABS lower lamp

Hello,

Need some help about understanding what the GS 911 is trying to say to me.

On my 2000 R 1150GS, ABS lower lamp is not flashing, not even lit. Bulb is good and GS 911 is telling me "Warning lamp fault".

Battery, Odyssey PC680, is new and charged. I had to put some space at the front wheel sensor, rear is OK. Front and rear switches are clicking when moved.

I did the reset like Largiader recommends it.

Any idea?

Check and make sure that the brake light globe hasn't blown.  Don't just check whether the brake light comes on.  Remove the tail light lens, and physically check that the globe filaments are intact.  Remove the globe if necessary and check the operation on a separate power source.

Even if the brake light filament is blown, the brake light will still appear to be working as the system then doubles up and uses the tail light filament as a brake light as well.

Tried this morning, checked the bulb. Visually looks OK. Connected it, both filaments are OK. Even took one from a friend's bike to test on my bike.

Still have the upper ABS light flashing slowly, and the lower one doesn't even turn on.

OK then.

Next thing I would check is whether you have power to the lamp.  If not, trace the wire back through the harness.  You may well find a break or a short circuit somewhere.  The wiring below the LHS of the battery bracket is particularly susceptible to chaffing and short circuits.

Yes, I have power to the lamp.

Ignition on, the upper light flashes and when I ground white/black cable the lower light turns on without flashing.

All the harness's cable ties are off.

So when the GS 911 is saying "Warning lamp fault" it simply means that in fact it can come from anywhere else.

Surely if you have power to the globe connector, the globe should be lit?!  If not, I would suspect the globe (despite the fact that it looks "good"), or a bad connection in the globe fitting.

Thank you for being back one year after. Finally I had to change the whole harness because PO forgot to put back on the earth coming from ABS module.
