Gen 1 to Gen 2 Ugrade
« on: August 26, 2020, 06:23:19 PM »
I have a gen 1 on my R1200GS which was fitted for me. I'd like to upgrade to a gen 2 unit. Is this easy? is there a settings migration I can use?

Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

Cheers, Mark

hi Mark,
these is no settings migration, but that's something I could easily help with..
If you take some screenshots of the latest app connected to your GEN-I, then I can easily help you set up the GEN-II device.

that said, we have been considering a configuration sharing setting - this could be very helpful for any support we do but also great if someone specifies what they have and share their settings and someone else can import those exact settings.

That would be awesome thank you. I will post some screenshots over the weekend. Thank you again.

A migration file of some sort would be a great idea, it could also be used as a settings backup.

So, I tried to get access to my hex, I had installed the latest version of the software app on my MacBook, but it wouldn't let me do anything without me updating my firmware...

I've read a few horror stories about people not being able to do anything once the update is done. I don't really care about the firmware update, I just want to get access to my hex.

Where can I get a copy of an older version of the Mac app?

Ok, scrap that last request. I've found a copy in an old backup file and shared it here (https://bit.ly/2YMYQND) if anyone wants it.

the software is (mostly) linked to the Firmware - as and when software is released it might require a FW update else it (new data structure) is incompatible.  There have been *very* few issues - most of them down to some weirdness on the PC or OS..

(never on the MAC app by the way.. ;-) )

I would suggest updating to the latest FW always.. but that's just me..  ;)

best
