I have been assisting a club member here in the UK using a GS-911 (covered in another post about bike I Levels, answered by Wayne)

After various works and performing autoscans correctly, it was decided to have the bike software updated (I Level was K001-15-07-510).

When he got the bike back the new level was K001-19-11-510.

The reason for this post? Well now using the GS-911 (same GS-911 software as originally used) he gets the 'Buffer index out of range', so it seems to be a problem following the Dealer s/w update.

Mike

In the autoscan report you can see the Dealer did one update in

Thanks for posting the info Mike, I am sure it will be of assistance to Hexcode in resolving the issue

I just updated the firmware on my GS911 and now I am receiving a ERROR  Buffer out of limit. I have several different GS911, so I grabbed an older one and used it on the bike. No Pc issue, no bike issue but it is a GS911 program issue. Hope this helps.

Hi Millwright,

You may well have a point, but the GS-911 that was used by our club member was not updated in any way, the only change was to the bike software.

Plus one for the "Buffer Index Out of Range". I've had my GS911 and 2016 R1200GSA for three years without hiccup. Today I downloaded the December update and the problem surfaced. The GS911 worked perfectly on a 2007 R1200S.

This issue is with the new firmware. I have had five of the gs911, I currently have two. One was updated one was not. The updated one doesn't work now. The unit worked Monday before the update. I worked on two bikes and reset the trip meter with the unit. I do the update and then the unit is a paper weight for the RT. So I used my older unit, which was not updated with the new firmware and BAM, instant results. I have been using the GS911 since the 3 pin model came out. Tech support is looking into it. I hope so, because the GS911 is used in every BMW shop I know. The old MOSS system was so bulky and now the new ISTA is a pain.

Hello, I realized using the GS911 with the OBD2 adapter cable, because in other models with the round connector did not present this problem.

Received a link today from the helpdesk that I downloaded that is supposed to address the buffer limit issue. I've completed the download but have not yet had a chance to test it on my bike.

Update- just tested the USB connection on my bike and the update Hexcode provided fixed the problem. All GS 911 functions work properly and I did not get the "Buffer Index Out of Range" error message. This was obviously a firmware issue in my case and the Hexcode folks worked quickly to resolve the issue. Thanks for excellent customer service!

If you don't mind, please share this link with the rest of us so that we might repair our devices as well!
I've searched the website and not found any updates since the December 2019 release.

This is what I got from Ruan at Hexcode and it worked for my device. They responded to me overnight with it.

Disclaimers-this may be specific to my device as I had been communicating with them and had sent my logs from the GS 911. I also won't/can't vouch for the security of this link, so user be forewarned.

My advice would be to contact them and let them send you the link, but here goes:

Just got the information. Thank you. I'll give it a try this afternoon.
I'm a bit curious as to why the Hexcode folks haven't publicized this. Perhaps a new release is on the way.

The RC1 in the file name indicates it is Release Candidate 1 & so it was released to you to confirm it works as you are the one's having a problem, posting a link here though I am not sure it was a good idea

Hence my disclaimer. No discredit to this site, but I personally would not download any update given to me by a stranger.

Perhaps the email sent me with link should have specified that this was a test fix? I'm not familiar with the naming convention definitions.

The above nonwithstanding, I still commend Hexcode for their quick action on this.
