Hello from Germany

I run into the same problem with an F850GS. Is there a solution to fix the "Horn Button problem" with the GS911?

THX in advance

ezCAN / Finding RDC connection on 2022 R1250RS
« Last post by Alan T. Butler on August 07, 2025, 06:54:04 AM »
Just received my Hex ezCAN. The instructions say I'm supposed to splice it in to the CANbus system on the bike at the RDC (tire pressure monitor) control unit connector. The online diagram showing the connection location for the R1250RS doesn't look correct - the green arrow points to a spot at the very aft portion of the where the pillion attaches. There's a connector plug there, but it doesn't fit the connections on the ezCAN. Also the picture looks like it was taken on an RT rather than an RS. My RS has a connector that fits the connectors on the ezCAN, but it's at the forward end of the under-pillion area, toward the left side of the bike. This is the location that Grumpy Goat used on his R1200RS at about 3:36 into his YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJZ8d8DORIA. I don't see anything that looks like an RDC device, but my ezCAN connectors fit there. My bike has an RDC, because I can turn it on and off on the Setup menu of the TFT.

EDIT: This YouTube video shows a guy installing an ezCAN on a '22 R1250GS. Looks like he's got the same exact mystery wiring setup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALtlPFKewGM. He comments that there's no RDC unit in the under pillion compartment, and he supposes that they've got it somewhere else in the computer system of the bike. His connector looks just like mine, and it's blocked off with a dust cap. Just in a slightly different location, because he has a GS and I have an RS.

I believe I can plug my ezCAN into that connector toward the left front of the under pillion seat compartment. Will smoke test it this Saturday.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you
 ATB

The GS-911 WiFi Enthusiast version supports up to 10 VINs, while the Professional version supports unlimited bikes. It depends on which license you have.

General Discussion / Re: tpms not learning
« Last post by joster on August 01, 2025, 09:00:41 PM »
Wanted to give an update as I got it working. While it was in the learning mode I kept clicking the wake up tool all around the area of the sensor (about 5 times). It must have finally woken up. I wish the new sensors came with id#s, it would make this a lot easier.  Anyway I hope this helps someone else out.

thats rather intriguing - I tested a R1300 -

and never found any menus re TPS/RDC, mind you can’t find anything on the modern bikes...
the BMW configurator tool mentions nothing about choosing RCD (which might be as now legal requirement ?  it is on cars in the EU)
nor lists it in the VO anymore
but the owners manual does have it in the engineering section page 203 and it reads like the real sensors

General Discussion / tpms not learning

Hey guys I just installed the new style schrader valves on my 2016 rt1200. They don't have the serial # on them like the older banana style one do and I'm having a hard time getting the gs-911 to learn the new one. I use the wake up tool and it says learning process started but that's as far as it gets. Was wondering if anybody had some luck with this. Thanks

Both the Schrader system and the newer one by LDL Technology measure pressure and temperature. No BMW system relies on rotation speed to detect low tire pressure.

the K1600 cluster could never add the tyre temps display

now I'm beginning to think they left the physical pressure sensor off current models - have the penny pinching gits gone to the VAG junk idea badly based on ABS wheel speed sensor readings ?

GS-911 / Re: GS-911 for R1300GS limited functionality

With the introduction of the new R1300GS/A and R12/nineT/GS, BMW has changed the internal CAN Bus layout and interconnections between different functions so that the Body Domain Controller now serves as the gateway to the internal diagnostics for the vehicle. In addition, they have also changed how controllers are coded in that coding of a controller now happens through a series of encryption and decryption steps. This is known as coding v2.0 and logically poses a challenge to any 3rd party tools that want to make arbitrary changes on a controller in order to allow custom functionality. As far as we can establish, coding v2.0 requires communication with the BMW server in Germany in order to change a controller's configuration. Therefore, it is currently impossible to change the configuration in e.g. the Instrument Cluster or the Body Controller, from within a standalone tool.

cars are all moving to secure gateways - Manufacturers are keen to prevent any unauthorised modifications. With secure gateway access, only authorised individuals or technicians are granted the ability to make changes to the vehicle's software or configurations. This measure aids in preventing unauthorised modifications that could lead to malfunctions, performance issues, or potential safety risks.

BMW cars are far more advanced down this route - it comes with two main drivers

A) vehicle theft and fitted of used parts on other vehicles
on the theft side - in car entertainment idrive headunits for the last 4 years are now programmed to self destruct if you try to fit on other vehicles - What's new - Cross-exchange and component theft protection

With the introduction of the I20 and the following models, component theft protection was introduced.
This is achieved by coupling the components to the vehicle's central control unit.
The following components are currently combined: Gear selector, iDrive controller, BZM, the head unit, airbag unit and radar sensor.
If one or more of the protected components is replaced, the connection with the central control unit must be reinitialised.
This is done with the help of Secure Tokens.
The necessary tokens are provided by the BMW backend system when the replaced component is a new part.
Components that have been removed from other vehicles (cross-exchange) do not generate a token
.

B) subscription services for add-on features
things like heated seats can be bought for monthly use in the winter - because this is a revenue stream for BMW, they need to stop people just enabling with a tick box using third party tools
