Just received my Hex ezCAN. The instructions say I'm supposed to splice it in to the CANbus system on the bike at the RDC (tire pressure monitor) control unit connector. The online diagram showing the connection location for the R1250RS doesn't look correct - the green arrow points to a spot at the very aft portion of the where the pillion attaches. There's a connector plug there, but it doesn't fit the connections on the ezCAN. Also the picture looks like it was taken on an RT rather than an RS. My RS has a connector that fits the connectors on the ezCAN, but it's at the forward end of the under-pillion area, toward the left side of the bike. This is the location that Grumpy Goat used on his R1200RS at about 3:36 into his YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJZ8d8DORIA (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJZ8d8DORIA). I don't see anything that looks like an RDC device, but my ezCAN connectors fit there. My bike has an RDC, because I can turn it on and off on the Setup menu of the TFT.
EDIT: This YouTube video shows a guy installing an ezCAN on a '22 R1250GS. Looks like he's got the same exact mystery wiring setup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALtlPFKewGM (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALtlPFKewGM). He comments that there's no RDC unit in the under pillion compartment, and he supposes that they've got it somewhere else in the computer system of the bike. His connector looks just like mine, and it's blocked off with a dust cap. Just in a slightly different location, because he has a GS and I have an RS.
I believe I can plug my ezCAN into that connector toward the left front of the under pillion seat compartment. Will smoke test it this Saturday.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you
