Hi guys...

Forgive me if the answer to this is already elsewhere - I did try and search...

This is my situation:

I just installed Lone Rider Motolights on my 2024 R1250GSA. They scanned perfectly and both were working. I then decided to add the extender cable. The right light disconnected. I scanned again, only the left one showed up, the right was showing in diagnostics as 'Disconnected'. I reverted back to the Y-splitter without the extension leads (the exact configuration that was working at first), and still the same problem.

I disconnected from the battery, did a reset, powered it back up, scanned again... Only the one light showing up.

I have checked and doubled checked the connection and there doesn't seem to be a physical issue. Cery frustrating given that they were working perfectly fine right up until I added that extension.

I'd appreciate any help.

If one light is not working (not sure what this scanning thing is) switch lights right to left and see if the problem moves. If so its the lght, if not probably the wiring.

Just to add to this in case it ever comes up as a search result. The basics of troubleshooting here would be the following:

With all this, it is pretty straightforward and simple to identify the issue at hand. The only confusion that can come from this, is failing to follow all the above, or extremely rare cases (more on this below), other than that, you'll narrow down the problem to either the ezCAN, extension cable, Y-splitter, or motolights.

We've had 1 case where both motolights were problematic, out of the thousands out there, you can imagine the minuscule chance of this happening. We authorised the ezCAN replacement (of course, with no lights detected we assumed the ezCAN was at fault), only to realise this wasn't the issue. Lone Rider sent him a complete new kit and found that both the lights he received originally didn't work. The chances of that happening is less than 1/100, so I wouldn't expect to see another case like this in the foreseeable future.

Other than that, this should serve as a handy guide for anyone who is experiencing trouble.
