hi all,
I'm looking for a little feedback..
where do you keep your GS-911? ...is it on the bike at all times, in your tool kit, on a shelf in your garage, in your study in the bottom drawer somewere.. you think ;)
..and is it still in the box it came in?
best

Before the fire, mine always lived on the bike in the tool box. I'd made a cone (truncated) shaped sleeve, to keep it from rattling in the aluminum box.

Most of the time my GS-911 is on a shelf in my garage, in it's original box. However, every time I go on a trip outside the city, I take it with me. I wrap it in half a dozen "plastic bubble bags" for some protection against vibration/moisture, and store it under the side panel of my R1200R.
-
I keep mine in the original box, in my tool rolling tool chest while I'm at home. When I'm on the road, I just put the box in with other electronics I take with me (laptop/camera).

Its on a shelf in my office - stored in its original box. I'd like to carry on my bike - no space though! :)
-
Mine is in my bag which goes with me most times, so it's not kept on the bike but is nearly always there when I am on it. Particularly useful on my R100RS ;)

Mine goes in a little briefcase with my HP Mini laptop, and a Healtech Diagnostic computer for my Suzuki race bike. Also have a series of thumb drives with repair manuals for all the various bikes we handle. All of it lives in the race trailer when traveling, and in the shop when we are at home.
I don't currently own a road bike that is GS-911-compatible, so I no longer travel with it. When I did have an R1100S, it went into the saddlebag with the Mini and cables. I used it twice on the road for my own bike, successful diagnosis/repair both times. I've used it a dozen times for other riders, and have saved a few vacations with it.

Its usually in my garage - stored in its original box, sometimes it comes on trips with me.
-
In the original box in a drawer, all nice and snug ;D
-
On a shelf in my garage right now. I used to keep in my panniers on my K1300S until I traded it for a K1600GTL and S1000RR. Present GS-911 doesn't wotk with the GTL, and no storage on the S1000RR ;) If I plan an extended trip on the 1000, I put it in my backpack.
Cheers,
Dave.

As mine gets used daily, it's on my desk in the garage, right next to the laptop used for diagnostics. When I'm on the bike, it's in my tank bag or in my right side top pocket ready for use. Have been looking for a neoprene sleeve for it but have not found anything suitable yet.
The original box it came in gave up the ghost a long time ago.

I keep mine in the box it came in. It keeps it so nicely compact and protected. I do keep it in the garage with my other tools.
-
I keep it in the original box in the house away from the Florida humidity. 8)
I get it out when I service/troubleshoot our two F650s. It goes in the tankbag when we travel.
Purchased in 2008.

Mine is still in the original box, and lives in the trunk of my K1200LT. Only needed it once, but won't go anywhere without it!
-
Stored in original box under work bench, and on trips it is with the netbook (I don't have bluetooth) in saddle bag.
-
I keep mine in the rigional box at home, when I'm on the road it's in a tol bag along with a small PC
-
In its original Hexcode cardboard box with its USB cable, in my Office. Its the only tool I have got that is in its original case still mind, a big rarity with me.
-
Mine is on the bike in the original foam rubber in an aftermarket sat-nav case.
Fits in the side toolbox on the R1200GS.

Mine is on the bike at all times.
In its original foam rubber packing inside an aftermarket sat-nav case.
It fits in the side toolbox along with a spare EWS etc on my R1200GS. :)
-
On my K12S, in my tail pack/tool roll. I also carry an Aspire One when touring. Used on my bike and my wife's K13S.
-
Mine is in a garage storage organizer drawer right next to my Spot Connect (awesome). When I go on a long ride both of them go in a waterproof padded pocket next to my netbook in a camelback/daypack. I figure you can never have too many
toys, I mean tools on the road ::)
-
I keep mine in a Pelican 1010 Micro Case (pretty sure that is the size). It's watertight and just big enough with a small foam pad to firmly hold the GS-911 and also store the USB cable. You should consider using these as the shipping box with a custom cut foam insert. It's pretty cool looking in a yellow case with a transparent cover and the yellow GS-911.

I keep the GS-911 with the VCDS-Diagnosetool in it´s case in my garage so both are available if needed.
-
I keep the new model for my K1600 duct-taped to my unicorn. ;)
-
In the garage where it belongs, unless traveling over longer distance, then it goes in the top box with an Acer Netbook.
-
I keep mine in my sock drawer with all the other important stuff I don't want to lose. Once my garage is built, it will go on a shelf with an old laptop.
Edit: it is in the original box
-
In a doubled over old sock under the hump at the back of the bike seat, its no use anywhere else ;)
-
Hi
Mine own in the box in the house. Works one in a draw or next to the laptop on trolley.
-
On the workbench next to the laptop in the workshop. If i travel it goes back inside the foam padding in the topbox.
-
Original box in the garage.
-
In a pelican case with a spare phone since my iphone does not work with it. It is an old HTC windows based phone just used for GS911. Have wire for usb as well if needed.
-
My GS-911 is covered with the gray silicone rubber bumper and sits in my garage roller toolbox top drawer.
-
most of the time the GS-911 is in the trunk of my bike.

When not being used or on a trip I store my GS911 in the original box in my tool chest next to other tool for my BMW F650GS.
-
I keep my GS-911 on the bike. The bike is a K1300GT with NO carrying space, but the GS-911 fits nicely under the passenger seat, held there by the owners manual retaining strap. I keep it in a plastic bag so it'll stay clean and dry.
-
I keep mine in the original box and most of the time it is in the side case of my R1200R. I also bought the protective cover so it is a bit of a tight fit in the box.
-
Mine lives tucked up in the tail section of my 2009 R1200RT. I have the rubber sleeve for it so it's well protected.
-
I have a 2008 GSA1200 for off road riding. I keep it in the foam sleeve that has been notched and fitted to fit under front seat where the tools used to go.
-
I place my GS-911 under the seat, close to the BMW diagnostic connector. :-\
-
Normally in my diagnostics drawer (with a lot of special car interface devices..) But when travelling (say more than 400 miles from home) it goes in my tailbag, and my Netbook goes in the saddlebag. I've never had to use the GS911 on my bike.. (knocking on wood..) I have checked other people's bikes with it. The Netbook comes along for email and web-browsing, trip planning anyway.
-
In a filing cabinet locked away :D
-
I found this case at Home Depot for $ 3.50 that works great, the foam from the gs-911 box fits perfectly in it and it tucks into the back part under my seat ( r1200rt )

I have the older gs911 gs4 , store it in my tool kit under the seat of my GSA. Never once thought about vibration, dust or water thus don't give it any special treatment! I guess I don't think about it like the rest of you do? I hope it's a little more robust than that and dont need to be pampered. Hasen't failed me yet!
-
In my special briefcase with assortment of cables, USB stick with latest software, drivers and all the documentation I can find, including the how-to video's.
The original box of the GS-911 is excellent of keeping the unit safe and sturdy, not losing sight of the original cable.
I recycle or re-use. :D
-
Like many here, I keep it in original box together with the Service manual CD of my F800GS and they are always in my trunk when I am riding far.
-
On my bike.
-
In it's original storage box inside the tank bag, wherever I go, it goes 8)
-
I have the Wi-Fi one.
I comes with it's storage case and I keep it under the seat in the recessed area behind the pillion seat.
