GS-911 Wifi / Re: Bike won't start - No fault codes!

Hi Sayeed,

Thanks for the info re Clutch switches, I don't suppose you have now found what their functions are? I'm trying to see exactly how Hill Start Control works on my 1250GS and wondered if one of these switches might be involved in that.

Thanks John.  Tried that too.  Some of the fault codes on Telematic unit were reappearing, checked all connectors and cleaned on Hexcode advice.

Learnt that clutch has 2 switches and both sits on left hand lever and this is how they operate.

Clutch left hand Lever  Not pulled            Slightly pulled     Fully pulled
Switch 2                      Actuated              Not actuated      Not actuated
Switch 1                      Not actuated        Not actuated      Actuated

In short Switch 2 is normally actuated.

remyredjo, did you figure out what was causing the negative response on the switching cam test? I’m having the same result on my 2019 R1250GSA. Have you had any problems with the bike since the incident?

Thanks for the tip, the servo eliminator does look like the better option. I'm just trying to figure out if my USA 2016 RT is Euro 3 or 4 compliant.

I'm considering a servo buddy. Here is a short and shakey video of the servo on my bike after today's redux of cleaning and lubing the shaft that's under the spring.

The servo has movement, but the GS-911 still gives an error, and is unable to actuate the flap.

https://youtu.be/aEFRubd1PGw

GS911 is simply calling up the routine in the bike ECU firmware to operate the servo & the ECU is unable to fully open it so it would seem time to replace the servo or eliminate it

I can understand the thought of eliminating the servo & fooling the ECU that it is there & operating, we do the same on US F650GS singles with a fuel tank vent actuator which only takes a rather low cost resistor.

The ECU is reporting the servo position so I would expect more than a resistor would be needed to stop all fault codes, the Servo Buddy seems a little expensive & I would want to know far more than I can see online in terms of what you get for the $US70 price tag

The Servo Eliminator is a little more forthcoming on what is in the product

General Discussion / BMW R1250GSA cam actuator test
« Last post by halejl on May 15, 2024, 01:18:09 AM »
R1250GSA using the gs911. I got: A negative response was received from the vehicle; The preconditions or sequence order was not met for this controller.

Does anyone know what this means? The bike runs fine. When doing the test I can hear the cams changing and the rpm changes along with cams. I just had the covers off checking the valves and everything seemed ok. I have received fault codes a couple of times about the cam position being impossible. The fault seems to heal itself and the bike runs fine.

if the camshaft actuator goes bad, will the bike continue to run ok, just not switching on to the high rev cam? Does it go into limp mode? Thinking about what might happen if the actuator fails while I’m in a remote location. Am I worrying too much about this?

Hi Sayeed,

Welcome to the Forum,

It might be worth checking the Clutch Lever and Prop Stand Switches. Also try starting with Clutch Lever pulled in.

GS-911 Wifi / Bike won't start - No fault codes!
« Last post by Sayeed on May 14, 2024, 05:57:55 PM »
I am new to GS-911 world, just received the Wifi unit today and trying to figure out what's wrong with my F750GS.

Engine controller was having this fault which I cleared now before trying to restart
Fault code: 0x3A13E1
Description: Clutch switch 2 open, signal implausible
Currently present: No

Bike does crank but no combustion!

Ironically there are NO fault codes on neither engine controller nor on immobiliser/Keyless ride.  Tried to do some live values on the following modules thinking some very obvious thing is missing...

Immobiliser/keyless controller:
Ignition current : 9.0 mA
Fuel cap lock current : 0.0 mA
Fuel filler cap lock : Actuated
Button one : Not Actuated
Button two : Not Actuated
Remote battery status : OK
Terminal 15 Status : ON
Steering lock status : 4
Steering lock servo current : 0.0 mA
Ignition voltage : 12.50 V
Battery voltage : 12.50 V

Anti-theft controller:

Battery voltage : 12.70 V
Controller battery : 6.90 V
Controller battery status : OK
Reason for last alarm : Y-axis tilt
Tilt sensor status : Not calibrated
X-axis tilt : 19.7 °
X-axis tilt (relative) : -12.7 °
Y-axis tilt : 0.3 °
Y-axis tilt (relative) : -0.3 °
Z-axis tilt : 63.1 °
Z-axis tilt (relative) : -12.7 °

Any idea what could be issue.  Will also share the engine live values...
