Hi All
The latest GS-911 PC App Beta V1507.2 is available for download as well as a software upgrade for GS-911wifi interfaces.
The major addition to this release is the XABS service functionality, available in the PC app as well as on the cloud.
See the news item (http://www.hexcode.co.za/version-1507-2-released) on our website for the change list.
Thank you.

What model machine Watjiaz ? and can you specify any error you receive on connection attempts please ?
-
Downloaded and installed over the last beta without problems, OS was XP
Did a quick autoscan into a 650GS and the lack of prompt for ignition on is good, it is still needed when selecting Series/650GS then the warning re ignition on not detected after selection but other than that all seems fine
The updated user interface is good it was time for a refresh, may I suggest a logo or perhaps pic in the middle of the 4 link boxes on the home page and perhaps change the pic with each release, am aware of similar on another product where a pic of different models is used to differentiate between versions, where the pic is for each new model as support is added it could convey some meaning as well
Lambda heater control on the single spark 650GS is one parameter I have some questions on but it is minor issue
-
The Beta version looks like running but when I selected RT 1200 LC i got this message:
"Interface required" Please wait a few moments until the aplication is fully connected to the GS-911 interface
I clicked OK, but nothing happend in next 5 minutes.
Then I wanted to upgrade the Firmware, also not succesfully. The connection between computer and GS-911 is good, because the same computer and connection works fine with the version1503.1.
-
OK
That makes it clear that it is a USB driver Win10 problem to me and important to log the support request with Hexcode
One item you could try is to turn off any USB power saving mode in WIN10, afraid I dont know where you will find it in Win10 but I would expect it to be in Control panel or perhaps access it via device manager.
You could also see if there is a USB utility which works with Win10 that enalbed you to look at devices on the USB bus and see if the Hexnet device is seen
-
Sorry but i dont have WIN10, still WIN7.
I also think it is something with the USB driver, but when i connect the GS-911 with the USB cable to the computer I hear always the beep from the GS-911.
That should be signal that it is connected or no.
Also the USB Driver, i think we install them when we install the new version.
I will try with the wifi afternoon.
-
Sorry, my bad, was thinking of another support question from today, I hang my head in shame :(
Yes Hexcode have an auto install on their driver, I am surprised you had a problem then with Win7
I will test it on my Win7 hopefully later today, did you check if there was an updated WiFi utility ?
-
Watjiaz
I downloaded, installed and tested the new beta on my Win7 system and you are correct initially the new version does not see the GS911 on the USB BUS, I had to select test interface and then it came up and run without problems, can you give that a try ?
Kobus,
1506.1 on Win7 did not do an upgrade check when I fired it up like it did on WinXP, had to grab the updated downloader and manually download and install the new beta, after that I confirm all ran as expected with the small aspect as above.
The WiFi Utility correctly saw the GS911 WiFi and prompted for the update correctly though, all downloaded and installed without difficulties
-
WayneC,
So I did it now.
First of all, I downloaded the new Wifi Launcher, with the new Wifi Launcher I upgrade teh Firmware of the GS-911 and after that the new
Beta version 15.07.2 works good. I dont know where was the main problem, probably in the old version of the wifi launcher.
I can check for update directly in GS-911 Beta 1507.2/Help/About ::) ::)
Thx
Matjaz

Good to hear it is all sorted
-
Did the install on my Win10 tablet.
Everything went well, Everything is working except that the problem with missing items in the autoscan report is still present.
The autoscan report cannot determine my actual I-Level which shows as : Unknown I-Level:0x88 ( My I-Level could be too recent since the ZFE was reprogrammed last spring when I installed a new rear strut)
Also it doesn't show that my bike is fitted with ESA with Hall sensor although I have no problem doing the calibration.
-
The issue regarding your particular ESA configuration has been discussed here (http://forum.hexcode.co.za/forum/index.php/topic,898.msg3946.html#msg3946).
This is not going to go away by itself and cannot be fixed by anything we do on our side, unless we ignore the ZFE configuration bits that tells us if an ESA with Hall sensor is fitted - but that will cause a lot of support questions like "Hey, I get an error while running this calibrating ESA function thingy" answered with "well... it's because you do not have ESA" ::)

Been thinking about this for a few weeks now, I caught myself out with real time on the PC app, I am so used to the WiFi real time, they are effectively back to front to each other. I told PC app to save at end of the real time session and it does not buffer the session, my mistake of course :'(
On the WiFi you click log to file at the start, on the PC app there is no click box and then dialogue to ask where to save file or just buffer to save at end if save file selected
Not sure what is easiest to implement but it just feels there should be more consistency between the two interfaces
-
Wayne - duly noted and something we will look into (ie. consistency between the 2 interfaces).
Of course changing a user interface once its been out there a while (7+ years) is a bit tricky (ask Microsoft about the "Start" button...). I have a feeling there are users who mostly use the PC App (probably professionals) and users who like the mobile web interface (probably enthusiasts). We would not like to frustrate either of them.
But I digress... in short consistency is good as long as you take into account that these are really 2 different platforms and trying to make desktop work like mobile might cause us to end up with something like Metro aka Windows 8.
-
Yes the difference between the users and age of the old interface has been the aspect running through my mind, especially since I have spent a few days on support in a repair workshop :'(, ICOMs and wireless can be a real pain at times
The best I have come up with is the idea of the tick box as it leaves the existing familiar interface in place without upsetting the old school users and only reminds those like me used to WiFi, to save, basically the same as WiFi, it also does not add the complexity of a buffer which must be cleared when ending sessions and we all know how good windows is at clearing temps 8)

It's not a big deal. Everything is working, that's what matters. ;)

Now this is strange...
If I do an autoscan using Wi-Fi, with Firefox, It reports everything right. ie: actual I-Level and ESA
If I do it using the usb cable and the PC software it reports that the actual I-Level is unknown and doesn't mention that the bike is fitted with ESA.
Here are the 2 autoscan reports:

Well done Dann, here is why a public beta is a good idea, many hands make light work, over to you Kobus 8)
-
Thanks for spotting that Dann, it will be addressed in the next release.

Kobus
Was using the PC App for a couple of tasks, one thing which struck me was lack of a progress bar on autoscan, nothing fancy just something to indicate the app is performing the scan, the WiFi has some indications there but not the PC App
Another aspect is lack of highlighting of menu's on mouse over, will become more important with touch screen small form factor PC's
Not that you needed some more items for the todo list ;D
