I get this message,  Error while writing to socket,”when trying to get my GS911 to find my wifi connection. I've done all the updates using USB, I've removed the program and reinstalled it, I've checked that my wifi is on 2.4 GHz. I'm out of ideas so I need help.

Common trouble codes or issues with known solutions / Re: Gs911 with Mac

You will need to connect to the GS911 in D2D mode which you indicate you are able to do then set up your home WiFi in the GS911 so it connects to your home WiFi. There is a MAC GS911 utility which you may find easier to do the set ups over on the downloads page

Thanks Kindly Mike, much appreciated. I will print this and take to my friend. I am not a member but will now join. Not looking forward to these couple of jobs but nice to have advice on hand and i'm sure we can successfully strip and rebuild!

The GS-911 has a function to calibrate the ESA. Note this is not the same as coding a unit to a bike (not sure if coding would be needed on an ESA shock anyway).

The ball joints do seem to be a common wear point on the K4x models.

If you are a member of the BMW Club UK then they have a tool Hire facility, which has a number of special tools to assist when chhanging the ball joints (there are some serious torque settings - 260Nm). One tool is a special spindle used in place of the original wheel spindle, which is used to enable the assemly to be held securely in a vice.

The Club also has GS-911 diagnostic tools and BMW workshop manuals.

Central Vehicle Electronics/ZFE/GM issues / Re: 10219CAN-bus error

Hi,

Having the same issues on a 2010 GS12. Would just like to clarify on the CAN Hi/Lo wiring resistance check suggested ( pin 17 - BMSk pin 53), which pin 17 are you referring to? The ZFE - BMSK connection? Noticed the BMS-k ecu has 2 connectors. (58-pin and 72-pin).  Thanks.

General Discussion / K1300S 2011 Front ESA Shock
« Last post by mjhts2018 on February 22, 2018, 09:38:00 AM »
Hi All

New to this so please be nice  :-[ Just to put you in the picture, I have a 2011 K1300S with 65k miles on clock where I am, with the aid of my friend (who is a mechanic) are going to replace the dreaded upper and lower from suspension ball joints as on last MOT (i'm in UK) noted about the ball joint play. Whilst going to start we also noted a leak from my front shock  :o so I have found a company in UK (firefox racing) who will do a complete strip and rebuild as BMW want £900 just for the shock!!

My question is, guy at BMW said the shock may need a calibration on their computer after refitting, however guy at firefox said it shouldn't as its the same one going back in....

I don't have a GS-911, but i'm not opposed to buying one, but can anyone please tell me if this procedure needs to be done?? Also has anyone done their ball joints before?
