Title: HELP: R1200GS won't start
Post by: joness7 on February 01, 2014, 01:09:16 PM
Hi all

I just bought a GS911 hoping it would tell me why my R1200GS refuses to start. However, the GS911 is showing no error codes. I have tried a few of the tests that seem relevant, fuel pump, injectors, idle valves, and they all seem ok. No errors and I can hear the component doing its stuff.

I have checked the engine actually turns over on the starter (it does), that I have a spark, that the side stand, kill switch etc are in the right positions.

So how do I use the realtime functions of the GS911 to work out what isn't quite happening? Can the ingnition antenna thing fail but not log a fault?

Really stuck now.......

Thanks
Steve J

Hello Steve
Just a problem that GS911 won't solve??
What about the sparks? are they wet after starting?
I think that's not an electrical problem. Please have a look on the mechanic.

you say you have spark

what my problem was the fuel pump electronics
this component does not always have fault code

Thanks for the ideas and the help.

I didn't run out of fuel, but I was very low (20 miles to go). I had moved the bike around my garage a couple of times, bumping it up and down curbs, not something I usually do. It seems I had managed to get some sort of air lock in the fuel line.

A bit of buggering around with the fuel system and I managed to clear it and start the bike - hooray!!

Thanks all
