Help with Lambda Data and AF-XIED

(1/2) > >>

onegrecook:
Can anyone help me out with some Lambda data as it relates to the AF-XIED unit? I installed the unit (both sides) on an 2015 R1200RT and I get Lambda voltages of 3,299 mV (which is odd to me). I've confirmed and double confirmed that the AF-XIED is installed correctly, but the bike runs like garbage. This morning I spoke to Steve at Nightrider and he didn't give me any comfort regarding the voltages, but told me to ride the bike so the ECU could "learn". I rode it for an hour tonight and the bike runs like garbage. It did seem to improve as the ride went on.

Now to my question: What do the other indicators in the data mean? I'm going to try to attach the excel spreadsheet with the Lambda real time values.

Thanks for any help.

It won't allow me to attach an excel file. Here is the best I can do unless someone can tell me how to present the data in a better way.

Alexm1:
I cannot help with you diagnosis as I am not familiar with the gear you have installed however re displaying the data; a graph is preferable and can be easily read for correctness. This is what my K1200 GT looks like when all is well.

onegrecook:
Thank you.

I thought about posting a graph, but there is no data to post...the graph has 2 flat lines because both bank voltages read 3,299 and don't fluctuate at all.

kobus:
From the data you supplied it looks like the AF-XIED bypasses the O2 sensor with a variable resistor - that is why you see the fixed 3299 value.
If you adjust the pot on the device you will see the Lambda sensor value go up and down.

Anyhow, my guess is that the way this device works, ie. giving a fixed value for O2, does not work with the newer BMSX controller in the 2015 RT.
As with cars, ECU's in bikes are getting smarter to detect tampering with the O2 sensors in an effort to bypass environmental regulations.
Might work on the non LC bikes, but not with the new bikes.

Thank you,

Do you think there is any risk of damage if I take nightriders advice and let the bike try to "learn" and adapt?
