coding options
« on: April 10, 2014, 06:53:21 PM »
Hi!
I'm planning to purchase the GS-911, but I'm trying to figure out one feature. I plan to use on F800 GT and the temperature reading on the cluster is in Fahrenheit. Is it possible to code cluster KOMBI to change to Celsius? Also the tire pressures is in PSI. Can it be converted to bar?

Thanks

Such coding-options for temperature & pressure can only be done via the BMW dealer, currently.

The only coding-option currently available via the latest software of GS911 for the instrument-cluster (KOMBI) is miles versus kilometres.

But more is planned for the future.

This function will change the instrument cluster (KOMBI) settings between miles and kilometres. This impacts the speed and distance display.
This is a new function and we would appreciate all feedback.

hi Guys,

we are currently busy with this... In addition to the odo (km/mls), the next Beta will have:
  • *Added more KOMBI coding functionality (Time display,Temperature display, Consumption unit, Tyre pressure unit)
  • *Added more KOMBI7x coding functionality (Consumption unit)
  • *Added more KOMBI46 coding functionality (Time display,Temperature display,K46HeadlightDiagnostics, K46indicatorType)

Key to Options for each setting:
 Time display : 12h/24h
Tyre pressure unit : bar, kpa, psi
 Temperature display : C/F
 Consumption unit : l/100km, km/l, mpg_uk, mpg_us
K46Headlight Diagnostics : Active/NotActive - when removing headlights for racing, will trigger the "Lamp F" if not deactivated
 K46indicatorType : Globe/LED

Some additions that remain on the Todo list:
  • Time for indicators ON : 10s, 15s, 20s
  • Distance for indicators ON : 210m, 350m, 500m
  • Alarm Arm Beep signal : Active, Not Active
  • Alarm Automatic Arming : Active, Not Active
@ Borzech : does your F800GT have Tyre Pressure sensors ?

 8) !

Not wanting to jump the gun (and ducking for any objects thrown at me by other members) and I'm sure you are most likely already aware, but:

Quote
•Alarm Arm Beep signal : Active, Not Active
•Alarm Automatic Arming : Active, Not Active

On the R1200RT (K26), the above can already be programmed via the remote?

I'm not sure if this can be done on every ALARM though.. Looking through the Rider's Manual of the S1000RR, I see the description of the Alarm, but no data on how to program it... while looking at the RnineT, it shows you in detail how to program the 3 options...

nothing to duck for... except the applaud +1 I just gave you... but
1) feedback would be welcome
2) the procedure outlined would be welcome
3) any other customizations that anyone is aware of - maybe we should start a separate thread for that?

There seem to be 3 things you can program using the remote:
  • Alarm Arm Beep signal (Confirmation alarm tone after activation/deactivation in addition to indicators lighting up) : Active, Not Active
  • Alarm Siren Sound (Rising and Falling or Intermittent Alarm tone) : ECE, US
  • Alarm Automatic Arming (when ignition is switched off) : Active, Not Active

I will create a new page under our Tech Info pages, outlining the process...

With the R1200RT, the alarm & the radio have their own, separate, manuals for each of those parts.
Most likely because these are optional extra's.

I do not know if this is also the case for the other beemers too.

The alarm is the DWA version 6, using the same remotes as with the R11xxRT & R1200RT, R1200GS and likely more others too.
(partnumber 65758544716, if RDC is also included)

Looking at RealOEM, it turns out this alarm-unit (DWA v6) is being used on quite a few beemers, including the said S1000RR.

I tried to attach the DWA v6 manual, which outlines the operation and programming steps & options, but that is not possible due to restrictions of this forum.
But you are correct, with DWA v6 you can programme the 3 options you are referring to above.

Having said that, adhering to the origins of this thread, the BMW dealeRT can programme the following options: (& the defaults in most of the EU)

Quote
Antitheft System:
•Automatic switch on:
◦active
◦not active [default]

•Activation time DWA
◦3 days
◦7 days
◦10 days [default]
◦always active

•Activation time of the LED-DWA
◦3 days [default]
◦7 days
◦10 days
◦always active

•Confirmation Signal On/Off
◦active
◦not active [default]

•Signal type of alarm
◦ECE [default]
◦US

KOMBI-cluster:
•Time indication
◦24u - indication [default]
◦12u - indication

•Ambient Temperature Indication
◦Degrees Celsius [default]
◦Degrees Fahrenheit

•Consumption Indication
◦l / 100km [default]
◦km / l
◦mpg (GB)
◦mpg (US)

•Speed indicator clock
◦km [default]
◦mls

•Tire Pressure System
◦bar [default]
◦kpa
◦psi

Electrical System:
•Switch-off for Turn Indicators
◦time-dependant switch-off
◾after 10 seconds [default]
◾after 15 seconds
◾after 20 seconds
◾No time-dependant switch-off

◦distance-dependant switch-off
◾after 210 meters / 230 yards [default]
◾after 350 meters / 380 yards
◾after 500 meters / 550 yards
◾No distance-dependant switch-off
