Like many of such options (ASC, radio, etc), it requires activation via the factory in Berlin when your bike is connected via the BMW diagnostic system on the internet.
See it as a license-code, a "serial number".

As it also requires the instrument cluster (dashboard) to be able to interpret these values via the CAN-bus.
