Hi yeah but I think that's what we are trying to confirm if that is defo the case, so when we press it and nothing happens are they actually still on but just on the setting which the hash doesn't allow I suppose the only was really is to do it and try it haha

The burning question (pun intended) is whether you can actually feel the heat on the grips increasing as you go up the stages.

That should answer your question as to whether they are still on or not.

As has been mentioned, the older displays can only indicate what they have been designed to indicate.  Just like walking into your garage at night.  You cannot switch on 6 lights if there are only 2.
