use my GS911 on a friend's bike?
(1/1)
jimnto:
I didn't find anything in the search.
Can I use my GS911 on my friend's bike? What is the info that is required to do so?
Skim:
If you have the enthusiast version, you can have 10 VIN Numbers stored on the unit, and thus can connect to up to 10 bikes. When you connect the unit to a bike, you will be prompted whether you wish to add the connected bike. If you confirm and have some of the 10 slots open, the unit will add the bike. You cannot later delete any VIN number stored.
The Professional version has no limit on number of bikes.
That's my experience/understanding.
Francois Barnard:
Hi jimnto,
Just to clarify Skims feedback - the 10 VIN limit for the Enthusiast license is only for Service functionality (see https://www.hexgs911.com/functionality-modes-and-updates/), while Emergency functionality (Autoscan/read faults/clear faults/read RTVs) is not limited at all: https://www.hexgs911.com/how-do-i-choose-a-license/
So if you want to say reset the service reminder on your friend's bike, you'll need to add his VIN, but if you just want to do an Autoscan and read some faults/real time values you have nothing to worry about. Either way you will always be prompted before a new VIN will be added, and then need to acknowledge that before it continues.
Kind regards,
Francois
