'22 1250RT (K52) Voltage Not Detected Message. Autoscan works.
« on: February 11, 2024, 06:44:54 PM »
The project was to disable the 'Comfort Turn Signals'.  Updated the GS-911 wifi and GS-911 Utility (Win 11).

1) Connected the GS-911 using a USB cable to the laptop.  The Utility shows a green battery at 12.5 VDC.  GS-911 Utility reports it cannot detect the vehicle voltage.  Launched Autoscan which read all of the Controllers.

2) Selected XBCL for 'Indicator Cancellation'.  The GS-911 said it cannot do that because the DC voltage is too low. The Utility displays 12.4 VDC.

3) I tested the battery.  The tester reported 'Good Battery' and terminal voltage is at 12.6 VDC with the bike OFF.

4) Started the bike.  Voltage rose to 14.6 VDC, as reported by the GS-911 Utility, then settled down to 14.3 VDC after about 15 seconds.

5) Proceeded to successfully change the 'Indicator Cancellation' values while the bike was running.

Question:  Is this normal?

The voltage specified by BMW as required for diagnosis on the bikes has been variable where on the cars they have specified 14v for as long as I can recall, on one bike model even setting service interval required 14v so I always use a charger/power supply set for 14v. This is all independent of GS911

Let GS911 support know of what you have found https://www.hexcode.co.za/contact-us-1

I have access to a Sealey Power Supply Unit which keeps the voltage at a set level but it costs £230 so can't justify spending that level on money, I'm currently use a Ring RSC808 8A charger which seems to keep the voltage near to 14 volts when carrying out diagnosis/programming and haven't had an issue so far.

I have found lately that if the GS911 sees a voltage below 12.5 when the bike is on and not running then it isn't happy. Try using a charger that has a variable output of up to 8 amps (It usually won't need to put out more than 4 amps depending on draw) and you should be fine. You should be able to find something like that for 50 euro.

I also have a 2020 R1250R with the latest SW 023_011_060 and don't have the option.

But I also hate the "comfort" turn signals and it turns out that this is an option that can be turned off by the dealer. I had this done on the previous 2019 R1200R and the current R1250R.
