bug on GEN 2
« on: August 28, 2020, 02:47:43 PM »
Hello,
I had to change my ezCAN from Gen 1 to Gen 2 (on a GSA 1250)

with Gen 1, the Horn function was very reactive : triggering and duration perfectly in sync with the action on the horn button of the bike  :)
But with Gen 2, the triggering is now delayed and the duration is longer versus the actual action on the horn button  :(
The amount of this "out of sync effect" is variable/unpredictable, from 0 to 2s.

With Gen 2 :
- a very short action on the button may sometime result in no sound
- a short action may result sometime in a long (and therefore agressive) sound

Has this issue already been identified ?
Is there any fix ?
Thanks, ML

this is the first we've heard of this - will investigate

however, maybe your horn button itself?

Trying to analyze the root cause :
- not the button, because the old horn is still active and it sounds in-sync as expected (sooner and shorter than the new horn controlled by the ezCAN)
- not the new horn because when pressing the button, the front led (also controlled by the ezCAN) are flashing out-of-sync too
I may try to make and send a video if it can help ?

just surprised as it has not come up in several thousand users..

right let's start analysing:
1. pls send us your latest log file (see top right hamburger menu)
2. let us know what you have connected to every channel (red, blue, yellow, white)
3. let us know what you have the Fuse settings set to for each channel
4. any chance it's the airhorn?
5. could you configure the air horn for another channel (and set the fuse to 25A)

let's take this further to our support Help Desk, where we can track and call in the cavalry where needed...

Additional tests :
- changed channel from blue to yellow : same issue (not in-sync with the horn button)
- changed the fuse value to 25A : same issue
- removed  option "led flashing when horn active" : same issue
->>>> BUT when ezCan is USB-connected to a computer (with or without the config tool launched) then the issue disappears (horn perfectly in-sync with the button) !!??

Config :
- the horn is not directly connected to ezCan, there is a relay (that works perfectly)
- other channels : front led (very low consumption) , brake led (very low consumption)
- batterie level : correct, around 12.4v

I just sent all the log and config to your help desk (Ticket #28680565)

Hope it will be usefull
best regards
Michel L.

I tend to agree with Lefebvre. I noticed that on mine too. Since there aren't many advantages in wasting a port for the horn, I took it off the canbus and wire it directly via a relay and trigger the relay with the OEM horn switch.

hello,

- good to know that I am not alone regarding this issue
- I agree that a workaround is to bypass ezCan and redo the wiring directly from the original horn
- but my purpose was also to help HexCode improve/fix their product

- I sent them a short vidéo showing the issue, here is the link :
https://youtu.be/ch3kz3oEBvY
    - the red light is plugged on the original horn of the bike
    - the white light is plugged on the horn channel of the ezCan
we can see that the 2 lights are not synchronized correctly ;-(((

As a reference, here is the expected correct behavior that we get when the device ezCan is connected to a computer via USB (!?!?)   :

https://youtu.be/IkzMeG7hkrQ

A new workaround is therefore to travel with a computer always connected to the ezCan, ...not so easy  ;-))

hmmm - intersting vids.. mine certainly does not do that..

2 questions:
1. what versions is your ezcan on?
2. for itertest, and just for shits and giggles - what happens when you connect a usb powerbank to the USB port?
