Yellow USB GS-911 use on new bike
HarrisBikeNut:
New to the forum, and hoping a member can advise me on this question please!
I have a yellow USB GS-911 used on two previous R1200GS Bikes. I have just taken possession of a 2018 BMW K1600 Grand America. My question is can I use my current GS-911 on the GA once I have bought the lead to connect the two together?
Thanks in advance!
Bob

The old yellow GS911 is OBD K-Line diagnostics pin out/protocol, the new model bikes are CAN-Diag pin out/protocol so the old yellow GS911 will not work with the new model bikes. The GS911 WiFi has both K-Line & CAN-Diag protocols plus the extra pins in the socket for CAN-Diags

I suppose I have the same problem. I am using the (enthousiast) yellow GS-911 for my R1200ST's (K28) and have used it to service a 2014 K1300s (K40). Since this summer I also own a 2018 F700GS (K70), so I bought the lead connector to connect my GS-911 to the OBD-II on this bike. The GS-911 cannot read the ECU and 'asks' to turn on the bike's contact, whitch is -of course- already on....
Guess I have to upgrade for a new GS-911 to solve this problem?

in addition to my post above:
HexCode states on their website that the GS-911 (Gen1) can read all controllers....
So what am I missing?

If you look at the Function Chart it lists which models require which GS-911 version:
https://www.hexcode.co.za/products/gs-911/function-chart
So no, your yellow GS-911 will not interface to your 2018 F800GS
