2009 BMW G650 Xcountry
« on: July 02, 2020, 11:02:21 PM »
Been trying madly to scan and make basic settings on a 2009 G650 Xcountry bike with no results.
Everytime an autoscan is performed, it returns a "low battery voltage" message and gives no access to this bike.

Is there any know solution for it?
Been digging in the forum with almos no information in this bike.
Please some help wanted here.

Regards
Ray

I assume you are using a GS911 WiFi Ray, in all the time I have used the GS911 & the 650 models in particular I have never seen a low voltage message, you do click past the ignition on message as it is only a 3 wire interface on the 650's so I can only assume the battery is low voltage or bad wiring from the BMS-CII to the diagnostics socket,  the X has a small battery so I would be using a power supply/charger when diagnosing one

Using a laptop GS911 wire connection with the Xcountry and external power supply at 2 amps and got same message.
Will send pics and screenshot of message.

Will be interested in the pics, with headlight off/disconnected 2 amp supply should keep the voltage at a good level over 13v

I would suggest unplugging BMS-CII & checking connectors dont show signs of corrosion, have seen that cause problems on the 650

Here the error message I got
Bike starts with no problem but can not be scanned due to this message.
"Failed to communicate with controller, check battery (GS-911 reports battery voltage as 3.83V): No response from controller"

Battery has a solid 12.8 volts and does not hesitates on start.

So, what can be the cause?

GS-911 is up to date and works flawless in any other bike.

Ray

Ray, lodge a support ticket with Hexcode help desk so they can look at the logs & see what is happening, certainly odd for no comms

I can only think there is a wiring problem, chafing perhaps pulling the VBat down or the earth to the diags socket is poor, there is a known chafing point on the X up where rear subframe bolts on from memory
