Front Rebound adjustment, open circuit, K1200s

(1/1)

DavePerth:
Hi all, I'm a newbie and have used my GS-911 for the first time today to diagnose an engine shut down during my ride home yesterday.  I've  done an autoscan - see report below and it comes up clean apart from the following "41777 Front rebound adjustment, open-circuit.  The fault is not present now".  I assume this is an intermittent fault with my ESA.  Has anyone else had this issue and have any solutions how to deal with it and prevent it from re-occuring?  Thanks in advance.  Regards, David in Australia.

WayneC:
Dave, the "not present now" fault may have occurred a long time ago & may even have been a tech at a service leaving a connector unplugged, clear the fault & see if it reoccurs

DavePerth:
Hi Wayne, thanks for your response.  Yes I can clear the code, but I have left it there in case I need to take the bike to my dealer to get it looked at.  What I am trying to determine is if the code has anything to do with an engine shut down?

My ESA is working fine and as you say, the code could have generated a long time ago and not cleared.

My engine shut down was bizarre and when I restarted the engine the revs were all over the place and the bike ran like a tractor.  This  generated no other codes, hence why I am looking at code 41777 in closer detail.  I started the bike yesterday after the autoscan and it runs perfectly.

Thanks, David

WayneC:
Dave, no worries, I would keep a copy of the autoscan to show any Dealer then clear the code to see if it reappears

Re the engine shut down, I doubt whether the fault code you see has anything to do with it, that device connects to the ZFE not the BMS-K Engine Management ECU, Idle Actuators can cause problems & not generate fault codes on other models but I have not looked closely at the K1200S other than to throw cheeky comments at a mate who has one

DavePerth:
Thanks again Wayne.  I have a copy of the Autoscan report so I will clear the code now.  I was expecting to see some codes relating to the BMS-K Engine Management ECU, but this did not happen during the shut down.   Will keep the idle actuators comment in mind and look into this further.  The only thing I can think of re the shut down is the ignition - many months ago my bike shut down unexpectedly and then I discovered that the ignition key had moved into the off position without me touching it.  This has not re-occurred.   The strange thing I am trying to work out is why the bike after the shut down was not able to run properly at all.  Something is clearly not right.  Regards, David
