GS-911Blu on new bikes
« on: November 23, 2018, 03:56:40 PM »
I have the GS-911blu Enthusiast and I just bought the F850GS. Can I use the 911 on the new bike if I just buy the Male OBD Adaptor Cable?

Hi redsix, according to the Function Chart
http://www.hexcode.co.za/products/gs-911/function-chart#K80_K81
you need a GS-911wifi or GS-911usb Generation 2 interface. Tha GS-911blu only supported the F series 2000-2016.

GS Jim is correct, the GS911-Blu is able to diagnose models with the old K-Line diagnostics only, BMW moved to CAN-Diag on new models, it is a higher speed protocol on different pins in the socket hence the need for the GS911-WiFi which has both K-Line & CAN-Diag capability. The two protocols are so different in speed and operation that different hardware interfaces are needed so it is not just a case of using an adaptor cable

I have just down this route after buying a 2017 F700GS and ended up nearly £300 lighter but on the up side I sold my 1st generation GS911 on which offset a fair proportion of that outlay.
