operational question for keyless ignition

I tried searching the board and manuals but didn't find anything about  this.

Can I run the GS-911 with engine running for a basic scan or just ignition switch on? I have a keyless R1200RTW and the ignition auto shuts off pretty quickly. I barely have enough time to email a scan report to myself before I get a disconnected banner.

Apologies for only getting back to you now. The engine can be running or only ignition can be on. If its easier for you to perform the functions with ignition running I'd suggest to go that route.
