Reset service warning with iPhone 8
« on: July 31, 2018, 12:45:18 AM »
Hello - I've been using GS-911s since 2008 or so.  For several years now I have had the Wi-Fi (red) professional model.  I tried to reset the service warning on my S1000XR using my home Wi-Fi and my iPhone GS-911 app, and it wouldn't connect.  It would do everything else: autoscans, individual scans, fault clearing, etc., but not "service functions."  I was able to reset my service warning using the Wi-Fi and my MS Surface Pro.  I know that my GS-911 and my iPhone were both set to use my regular home Wi-Fi, not the D2D mode.

I seem to recall that I have been able to reset my service warning with my iPhone, but maybe I'm wrong.  Is it even possible to reset the service warning with an iPhone/Wi-Fi/GS-911?

Thank you
 ATB

Alan, a little more info on the error message would be needed to assist, one aspect though is the GS911 firmware up to date ?, if not update it

Everything is under control. Situation normal. Had a slight weapons malfunction. Everything's perfectly all right now.

Wayne: Thank you for your response.

First, the good news: I deleted the GS-911 app off my iPhone, and then reinstalled it off the iTunes App Center.  I plugged the GS-911 in my bike to get the data that is at the end of this post, and... HEY!  It worked!  I was able to access my service warning reset!  It worked!

This is great.  I was trying to reset the service warning on a pal's R1200RT, using my iPhone and the semi-crappy Wi-Fi at the Republic, WA rally grounds, and I figured that must be the problem.  Then, yesterday I tried it on my bike, using my excellent home Wi-Fi, and it still didn't work.  Bummer.  I did get the service warning reset function to work using my Surface Pro and my home Wi-Fi, but I hate it when something doesn't work.

OK - here's the data:

One question: when will I be able to set the clock on my XR to 24 hours?

Pleased to hear you have the problem sorted Alan, cant help re the 12/24 Hr issue, I notice the bike has not had any firmware updates since purchase, I am sure there would be updates for all the ECU's in it, perhaps a trip to the Dealer may be worthwhile

That is a thought to consider.  I'll want to check the XR forum first to make sure that the latest and greatest updates don't just p*ssy out the XR.
