Take the GS-911 on a trip?
« on: May 27, 2018, 04:20:45 AM »
I've done a fair bit of searching on line but haven't managed to uncover much on this topic.  Good idea or limited value........

I have a small laptop which fits in the top box with the 911.  Used a couple of times and has the potential to save you cash!

Understood, I also take a laptop with me and the 911 doesn't take up much room so maybe I should pack it.  I understand that it won't correct a problem but I guess identifying the problem could well be valuable.

You can also use your phone in D2D mode (and even Infrastructure mode, if you have 3G phone signal on your trip) to read and clear fault codes.

The D2D mode won't allow you to perform service functions, however the Infrastructure mode will..

D2D and infrastructure mode only being available on the wifi version of course and not on the original GS-911.

Correct ;)

The only USB only device we're selling at the moment , the USB Gen 2, needs a Windows laptop to function:

Thanks for the input, my unit is the red wifi model and I will have my iPhone and laptop with me.  I also put a post on Advrider and received several 'real experience' situations that support taking it along so in the pannier it goes and now off to Death Valley this morning.
