BMW R1200GS 2014 Ticking noise
« on: December 23, 2023, 02:43:23 AM »
I have a 2014 R1200LR WC with the already BMW-patented ticking sound in the left-side exhaust cam.

My question is, does this decompression cam have any internal spring or is there can something be done to solve this noise?

Here is a video of the problem as such, please your comments

Hello, the decompression cam does not typically have an internal spring. The ticking sound you hear is likely the result of the decompression mechanism engaging and disengaging during the engine's operation. This ticking sound is considered normal and is not usually indicative of any underlying issue or malfunction.

Determine if there is any soundproofing material around the decompression cam. Adding soundproofing materials such as rubber or noise-dampening materials can help reduce noise.
