Gs 911 compatability
(1/1)
Hexane12:
I have an original GS 911 Serial number GS40107211. I purchased it in approx 2007/8. for my R1200GS. It has been used regularly and has given great service. I have now changed my bike to a 2017 R1200GS LC. I have the latest software 1707.2 on my laptop. Can I still use this original GS 911 interface on my new GS bike?
WayneC:
No, the new model bikes use CANDiag protocol which is higher speed communications on a different pair of pins in the diags socket, this is the reason for development of the new GS911 WiFi. There are plenty of older model bike owners who would purchase the older GS911 from you
Hexane12:
WayneC, thank you for your prompt and informative reply. Reckon I will have to invest in the latest version. If do sell my original GS 911 do you know if there is some sort of procedure to inform Hexcode as the model is registered in my name and the new owner has to become registered and be able to down load the latest version of software. Again thanks.
WayneC:
No process I am aware of, the purchaser would plug it in and obtain the downloader, install software and register as you did years ago
schuppi:
Hello
As Wayne suggested
How do I update my registration details?
Using the GS-911 Downloader utility on a Windows PC:
Get the GS-911 Downloader utility from the downloads page. Launch the utility, connect your GS-911 interface to the PC's USB port and press the "Download Options" button on the Downloader window. This will open a web page in your web browser that shows the list of downloads for your device. That same page shows your current registration details and allows you to change them.
