Standardised Codes

(1/1)

Riverfurm:
I spent many years working in the automotive industry, and all DTC (diagnostic trouble codes) used a standard of OBD or OBD2 (on board diagnostics). Which means if you had a code of PO440 (large leak in the evap system like a gas cap off). It would be the same for a Chevy Ford or even an import. But with motorcycles it seems there is no standard for DTC. Not even from model to model  from the same manufacture. Is this true? So it would be very hard to make a list of DTC since they could have different meanings for different motorcycles.
I wonder if there will ever be a standard for the motorcycle industry.

By the way, I like my GS911 WIFI and the phone app. Never had anything like that in the auto industry.

Hello
searched for P-codes on BMW motorcycles but can't find anything. Think they will have their own DTC's.

Just don't have informations for newer ones with OBD connectors in 2017. They will be the first bikes with P-codes.

FYI: I work on my Audi, VW with VCDS, and that's great 8)
